Homotypic Synonym:- Carrichtera vella, Vella annua. 
 
Meaning:- Carrichtera (L) For Bartholmaeus Carrichter physician.
                  Annua (L) Annual.
   
General description:- Annual.
Stems:- 
1) 5-40(-60) cm, branched from the base, with setiform deflexed hairs; hairs and 
    branches pungent in fruit. 
Leaves:- 
1) 2- or 3-pinnatisect with obtuse, linear segments. 
Flowers:- 
1) Raceme, with 10-15(-20) flowers. 
2) Petals, 6-8 mm, pale yellow, violet-veined. 
Fruit:- 
1) Silicula, 5-8 mm, deflexed or patent, on pedicels 2-3 mm; lower segment 
    bilocular. 
2) Seeds, 3 or 4 in each loculus.
 
Habitat:- Sandy and rocky coastal habitats, stony hillslopes in pinus halepensis, 
woodland, archaeological sites. 0-120 m. 
Distribution:- In Greece restricted to the Aegean region. Otherwise widespread, but 
scattered in the Mediterranean region, eastwards to Iran. Rare on Crete, known 
from only a few scattered locations on the S coast and Chysi island.
Flowering time:- Mar-June.
